I Have a Rendezvous with Death by
Alan Seeger I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air—
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.
It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath—
It may be I shall pass him still.
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope of battered hill,
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.
God knows 'twere better to be deep
Pillowed in silk and scented down,
Where love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse, and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear...
But I've a rendezvous with Death
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips north again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.
parts of the above poem were in the trailer for Gears of War 2. just felt like finding the original.
its been awhile since i've been here. lol. loads of things happened.
post camp diamond week was hectic. trainings, deadline rushes(not like i did much work), and end FYP presentation. 3months just flew by like that. sigh. and its IAP now. will miss the peeps in FYP. even if we don't talk much. hahaha.
had a precious 2day wkend 'holiday' before starting work.
attached to Infor Global Solutions. has NOTHING, and i mean NOTHING. to do with engineering at all. shit.
its like 75% admin work and 25% IT related work. and i don't even learn anything, i'm just doing license key generation, which already has a program to do it, all i have to do is input information. sigh. good or bad? i dunno. kinda sucks though, since i don't intend to do engineering in future, it would've been good to have experience how engineers work in real life at least. damn you NYP.
so far i've become extremely familiar with the copier machine. became good at Excel. and i'm pretty familiar with the UPS and Aramax(another courier company) men.
now into my second week of work, and it seems like its really monotonous. sigh.. i don't know to be happy or not.
anyway. SIM scrimmage on last tuesday. probably one of the happier trainings i've had. i rushed over after attachment, reached there with the game in full swing. juniors vs their juniors. apparently we were a cut above them in terms of standard, to me. so i warmed up, and just waited. not expecting a place since i was late.
but surprise surprise, coach sent me into the line up.
i played with enthusiasm i hadn't felt in awhile now. and it was refreshing. morale took a slight hit though, as i let a fella continue on with the game though it was a turnover, because he was in possession of the disc for too long(in frisbee you're allowed to hold the disc for only 10seconds), but i didn't shout it out loud enough, and from that pass he made, they eventually scored. leading to my captain getting really pissed at me for not shouting it louder, since he saw me shout but keep quiet as play went on.
i made it up later, however, but scoring. haha.
final score was 7-5. if i'm not wrong.
we had mixed pickup after that. and i probably felt happier than i've been in awhile for training in those pickups. i scored another point as well, and was raring to go onto the line each time. positive mindset works wonders indeed.
didnt go for the wed training, as well as both trainings this month because mum was out of town at japan.
going for my 42km run tomorrow. feeling extremely nervous. not like anyone is giving any encouragement too. so yeah...
hopefully i'll be able to complete it under 5hours. or at least under 6. wouldnt wanna drop out or something. i'll take a picture of the finisher's tee once i'm done. HEH.
2 back to back winterleague matches tomorrow as well. i wonder how am i gonna play in them. i'll be the spectator tomorrow for most of the time, and willingly, haha.
okay. time to hit the sack. wish me luck guys. ciaos.
